An old legend says that at the time when the lakes were flying, a landlord had an industrious daughter, who sat and tambour. Terrified the landlord’s daughter squealed out: "Stung like a viper”, the lake dropped down, and since that time it is called for the “Viper lake” (Odzes ezers).
